How to Melt Chocolate

Normally, when I’m sharing cake recipes, I don’t go into much detail about how to melt chocolate because of time constraints, but melting chocolate is not as easy as it sounds! 🧐

When I first started out, I really couldn’t melt chocolate successfully. It wouldn’t melt, and it would just become thick and clumpy. I always had to mix in some milk or whipping cream. But now, melting chocolate is really easy for me. ☺

It felt so difficult when I didn’t know how to do it, but now that I do, it feels so simple! 😁

In this post, I’ll go into more detail about the things to keep in mind when melting chocolate, and I hope that those of you who are still struggling with melting chocolate can find this helpful and improve your skills! 🍫

  1. Monitor the water temperature
    • The water should not be boiling.
    • Lower the heat and wait until the water is just gently simmering before placing the bowl of chocolate on top.
  2. Melting the chocolate
    • The bowl should be larger than the pot to prevent steam from getting into the chocolate.
    • Let the chocolate sit for about 1 minute to warm up.
    • After that, stir the chocolate to help it soften.
    • Once the chocolate is halfway melted, turn off the heat.
    • Keep stirring until the chocolate is completely melted, and you’re done! ^^
